ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) shipping

TEEKAY SHIPPING, the world's largest medium-sized oil tanker operator, has taken a 56% majority stake in the Norwegian group UGLAND NORDIC SHIPPING at NOK 140 a share. It intends taking over the remaining shares later. The total cost of the operation is $783 million. UGLAND manages a fleet of 18 ferries responsible for carrying oil from offshore fields to ports.
