29/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Movement Belgium and Philip Morris Institute are organising, for 5 February, a conference on Social Europe with a view to the Belgian EU Council Presidency. The former Permanent Representative for Belgium with the EU, Philippe de Schoutheete, will introduce the work, to be attended by Georges Jacobs, UNICE President; Harald Wiedenhofer, General Secretary of EFFAT (European trade unions for food, agriculture and tourism); and Miet Smet, Belgian MEP. Frank Vandenbroucke, Belgian Social Affairs and Pensions Minister and future President-in-Office of the EU Council, will take the floor during a lunchtime debate on the theme "Belgium's position on Social Europe during the Belgian EU Presidency".
