25/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - Ambassador Speckhard, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs at NATO, who chairs the new Ad Hoc Committee on Depleted Uranium set up by the Alliance, said that the latter will be sending a representative to the meeting scheduled for next week at the European Commission on the matter of using depleted uranium in munitions used for operations in the Balkans. The NATO Ad Hoc Committee will, for now, be meeting every week.
