Commission approves joint Stora Enso-AssiDomän undertaking in paper sector

Brussels, 29/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given its approval to the creation of a joint undertaking between Stora Enso (Finland) and AssiDomän (Sweden). The new entity, called Billerud, will combine the activities of its parent companies' businesses in the sack and kraft paper production and part of their activities in the manufacture of corrugated case materials and pulp. The activities of the two parent companies are complementary and the pooling within Billerud of three factories located in Sweden should not entail an increase in their market shares in a sector where they are faced with fierce competition. The Commission noted that the market share would remain below 20% for sack paper and kraft paper and 15% for corrugated case materials and pulp.
