The American firm INTERNATIONAL PAPER is, as expected, to sell the 72% stake it holds in the capital of its German subsidiary ZANDERS FEINPAPIERE (504 million euro turnover in 1999, with a workforce of 2,800, two plants and a production capacity of 450,000 tonnes of paper) to the Finnish group METSA-SERLA (4.2 bn euro turnover in 1999) for 86 million euro. This price is based on a total valuation of ZANFERS estimated at 245 million euro, or 43 euro a share. See EI of 31 August.
