Brussels, 09/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved an operation by which the US company Dana Corp acquires joint control of GETRAG Getriebe- und Zahnradfabrik Hermann Hagenmeyer GmbH&Cie, by contract and acquisition of shares together with Tobias Hagenmeyer Industriebeteiligungsgesellschaft mbh. The Commission's investigation showed that the two companies' activities are complementary and do not endanger competition. Dana is active mainly in the manufacture of components and systems for the automotive industry as well as for other industrial applications (particularly axles), whereas GETRAG is primarily engaged in the manufacture and sale of transmissions and related components mainly for the European passenger car market.
