Brussels, 09/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given the go-ahead for an operation whereby the Germany companies Babcock Borsig AG, mg Technologies and SAMarkets GmbH from the SAP Group will set up the joint venture ec4ec to create and manage a world electronic marketplace for plant and machinery construction. This will enable companies to obtain and market components for plant and machinery construction more speedily, efficiently and economically. The development of technical security standards to prevent information which could affect competition from being passed on is therefore a key aspect of this marketplace. Since the venture will face competition for a number of other electronic marketplaces specialising in the same sector, there is no possibility of the merger creating a dominant position in the market and the Commission therefore raised no objections to its creation.
