ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) airlines

The Spanish companies IBERIA and AIR EUROPA have signed a letter of intent announcing negotiations in view of a "possible integration". Merged, they would control 94% of the domestic market. AIR EUROPA had a turnover of 1.1 bn euro in 1999, against 3.9 bn for IBERIA.
