Vienna, 19/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs Benita Ferrero-Waldner, acting President of the OSCE Council, announced on Thursday that she would "formally invite" the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to rejoin the Organisation of Security and Cooperation in Europe, following the "democratic change" that occurred in Belgrade. (The OSCE had expulsed Yugoslavia in 1992, at the time of the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina).
Let us recall that the new President of the FRY Vojislav Kostunica could, next week, be in Strasbourg to speak before the European Parliament (see EUROPE of 18 October, p.12).
