Strasbourg, 09/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption by 402 in favour, 80 against and 20 abstentions, of the report by British Labour member Peter Skinner on the Commission's communication entitled "capital investment: proposals aimed at further implementation of the action plan", the European Parliament welcomes the fact that this action plan proposes concrete measures for eliminating, by 2003, the obstacles that still exist to the establishment of a real investment capital market in the European Union. He calls on the Commission to present and on the Council to implement a directive on complementary pension funds as soon as possible, as well as a proposal relating to the taxation of pension funds, so that these measures may be adopted as swiftly as possible. The Parliament is also in favour of improving the shareholding regimes for employees, linked to co-management mechanisms, including stock options.
