Brussels, 27/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Following the expulsion of foreign journalists from the Fry before the elections, the French Presidency made the following declaration: The Presidency of the EU firmly condemns the decision taken by the Yugoslav Authorities, on the eve of the elections, of refusing to grant accreditation to the foreign media and to expel several foreign journalists this afternoon, notably from the European Union, among whom Finnish, German, Swedish and Portuguese journalists whereas they were in possession of visas. Following the refusal to grant visas to EU parliamentarians, this arbitrary decision, that once again violates recognised universal freedoms, demonstrates the climate surrounding these elections" (Also see EUROPE of 23 September, p.3).
