Enlargement, Biarritz Summit, ASEM Summit, White Paper on Food safety, men/women equality - Short speech by President Campi

Brussels, 27/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - As we have indicated, the first October session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg will be main dedicated to the future of EU enlargement, with a debate, on Tuesday, over the accession process in general and on the situation in each of the candidate countries, and the Wednesday votes. A second plenary session will take place from the 23 to 27 October in Strasbourg. Next Tuesday, the Council and Commission will make declarations on the special summit in Biarritz from 13 and 14 October, followed by a debate, on this occasion the MEPs will ask oral questions on the board themes of this European Council, the EU Charter of fundamental rights. Furthermore, with the opening of the works, Monday afternoon, the European Commission will make a declaration on the Asem III summit, while on Wednesday the Parliament will discuss a report on the European Commission White Paper on Food Safety, and will hear a speech by the Italian President Mr Campi, and on Thursday it will have a debate on equal opportunities between men and women, on which the Council will make a declaration. Here is the detailed agenda, though it may be modified:
