ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) postal services

DEUTSCHE POST is to increase its stake in American DHL INTERNATIONAL (turnover around EUR 5.2 billion in 1999) to 51% from January 2001 for a sum close to $500 million. DEUTSCHE POST and the airline company LUFTHANSA will be the two leading DHL shareholders, with 51% and 25% of its capital respectively. They plan to have DHL quoted on the Stock Exchange in 2002.
