Brussels, 18/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Dublin) is organising a conference in Brussels on 21 September (at the Charlemagne building) on "25 Years for a Social Europe". The Foundation's Director, Raymond-Pierre Bodin will speak on the Foundation's activities in its 25 years of existence and define its future role. Belgian's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Employment, Laurette Onkelinx will introduce the work. Speaking, will be the European Commissioner for Social Affairs, Anna Diamantopoulou, the Chair of the European Parliament's Social Affairs Committee, Michel Rocard, the President of the Economic and Social Committee, Beatrice Rangoni-Machiavelli. The final session, to be chaired by the Vice-Chair of the Foundation's Board, Mr. Boisnel, will hear the President of CEEP (public enterprises), Correa Gago, the General Secretaries of European employers (Unice), Dirk Hudig and European trade unions (ETUC) Emilio Gabaglio, as well as the new Director General of the European Commission's Employment DG, Odile Quintin. The Council Presidency will conclude work.
