08/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou met President Milosevic in Belgrade on 7 September, to whom he handed a message from the Fifteen by which the EU's attitude towards the Fry would change if the 24 September elections were genuinely democratic (see EUROPE of 4/5 September, p.6). Mr. Papandreou also met the main opposition candidate, Vojislav Kostunica. Speaking to the press, Mr. Milosevic castigated "EU pressures", whereas Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic said that the elections were being held "to express the will of the Yugoslav people, not to satisfy the international community".
