American WASTE MANAGEMENT has sold several of its activities to ONYX, subsidiary of VIVENDI ENVIRONNEMENT, for the sum of $250 million. ONYX takes on the waste treatment business in Hong Kong and the reprocessing of dangerous waste in Mexico, as well as a residual participation in AES - ADVANCED ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, a joint venture in the United States that makes an annual turnover of around $400 million.
