Schwerin, 25/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - Marking the beginning of the German presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), a forum on the Northern Dimension of the EU will be held on 31 August and 1 September in Schwerin, under the chairmanship of the minister-president of Land of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Mr Ringsdorff, and Minister of State at the Auswärtiges, Mr Zopel. Participants will include Finnish Prime Minister Mr Lipponen, Estonian Foreign Minister Mr Ilves, Latvian Transport Minister Mr Gorbunovs and Swedish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mr Söder.
The meeting, which aims to give concrete substance to the Action Plan on the Northern Dimension approved by the Feira Summit in June, will comprise three "workshops" on economic questions, the information society and collaboration between the public authorities and the economic world.
