American group VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS has acquired another US firm NORTHPOINT, an Internet rapid access operator via DSL (Digital Subscriber Loops) technology. The new undertaking, NORTHPOINT, will be held at 55% by VERIZON and at 45% by the current NORTHPOINT shareholders. The operation is estimated at $2.33 billion.
