Brussels, 25/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission approved two acquisitions, namely that of Young & Rubicam by WPP in the marketing communication sector; and that of the Ranks Hovis McDougall group (foodstuffs) by Doughty Hanson & Co Limited, an investment fund manager. The Community Executive also approved a joint venture between the German groups E.ON and Allianz Capital Partners in the packaging sector.
