Mesic meets EU and NATO officials - Towards a rapid opening of negotiations on EU/Croatia Agreement

Brussels, 18/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission adopted a draft negotiating brief with the Republic of Croatia on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement. "We would like negotiations with Croatia to begin before the EU/Balkans Summit" which is to be held in November in Zagreb, Commissioner Chris Patten explained when talking to the press at the end of a visit by Croat President Stipe Mesic to the European Commission.
