"Yes" to French training aid scheme

Brussels, 28/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission approved the French scheme "Training development commitments" (EDDF). This scheme foresees training aid whose intensities vary between 25 and 80% (gross grant equivalent) according to the size of the company, the region in which it operates and the type of training concerned. The aid intensities are higher when the training is carried out by a small or medium-sized enterprise or when the training leads to know-how transfer, recognised and certified as such by the appropriate authorities. These aid intensities can be increased by 10% where training benefits those with insecure jobs or those at risk of exclusion from the labour market. By notifying this scheme, the French authorities conformed with the useful measure proposed by the Commission under Article 88 (1) of the EC Treaty, in the framework on training aid. The Commission felt that this scheme is compatible with this framework.
