Brussels, 02/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised Nortel Network to sell some of its printed circuit board assembly facilities to the American manufacturing services provider Solectron. Thus Nortel will outsource a part of its printed circuit board production activities in France, Ireland and the United Kingdom, in addition to Canada, Mexico, the United States and turkey.
Nortel Networks is a world supplier of network services to companies that provide the infrastructure for the Internet and other public and private networks. Solectron Corp. provides manufacturing solutions to original equipment manufacturers, mainly in the computer, network equipment and telecommunications industries. The European competition services felt that the concentration remain relatively low in the outsourced printed circuit board assembly services market and that the suppliers power to set prices is limited by the importance of the clients.
