FRANCE TELECOM has paid GBP 7.5 million for DEUTSCHE TELEKOM's 25% stake in METROHOLDINGS. In exchange, the German operator will be buying FRANCE TELECOM's 50% share in MULTILINK for CHF 50 million. Further to this operation, the French group will own 50% of METRO HOLDINGS, a local loop operator in the United Kingdom; the remaining 50% is owned by ENERGIS, a subsidiary of the British electricity company NATIONAL GRID.
