Strasbourg, 18/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - Adopting the report by the Christian Democrat Ana Palacio Vallelersundi, the European Parliament approved the European Commission's five year strategy to improve the functioning of the internal market. It calls on the Commission to emphasis the monitoring of the progress accomplished by the Member States, it insists on a reduction off the administrative formalities and an improvement of the dialogue with businesses and calls for, again, a new simplification of the VAT regime and its application to electronic commerce. The Commission is also invited to promote the creation of a European network of new systems of litigation resolution, in particular for the on-line transactions, systems that truly enable consumers to have the ability to take action.
