ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) electronics

The largest microchip maker in the world INTEL has acquired from the Danish electrical equipment manufacturer NKT the Danish firm GIGA for the sum of $1.25 billion. Specialised in electronic components for optical fibre telecommunications networks, this company made a turnover of $26.2 million in 1999.
