06/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved a new research project designed to develop more environment friendly aircraft engines. The new contract -worth EUR 101 million- is part of the Fifth Framework Programme and involves 15 industrial partners and two universities in nine countries. The project will be led by Rolls-Royce, with the participation of Snecma and MTU.
