Brussels, 06/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European United Left group/Nordic left in the European Parliament, Presided over by Francis Wurtz, held seminars from the 7 to the 9 March, in Lisbon. These seminars, will have the notable presence of the Secretary General of the Portuguese Communist Party Carlos Carvalhas, of the President of the Committee for Equal Opportunities, Fatima Amaral, and the Secretary General of the CGTP, Carvalho da Silva. Delegates from Michelin, ABB ALSTHOM and the "Markets for Employment," and the former MEP Ken Coats (Labour member who changed to the United left following his exclusion from Labour) will also take part in the seminars largely dedicated to employment. The topic of employment and women will be raised by the MEPs Marianne Eriksson and Geneviéve Fraisse, and that of "high standard employment with rights" by the MEP Ilda Figuereido. President Sampaio will introduce the MEPs.
