Schmidt Report backs -with some criticism - new regulation proposed for collective investment, strengthening investor protection

Strasbourg, 16/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the plenary is discussing the report by Mr Olle Schmidt (Liberal Group, Sweden) which, on behalf of the EP Committee on Monetary and Economic Affairs, invites MEPs to approve the European Commission's proposal to enlarge the possibilities for cross-border investment, on condition that investor protection is strengthened.
