Brussels, 26/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - Finland's Ministries of Work and Finance, with the backing of the OECD and European Union, are organising an International Conference on Jobs in Helsinki on 27 and 28 January. 120 participants representing different OECD countries, as well as international organisations are expected at the conference, to be inaugurated by Finnish Prime minister Paavo Lipponen, the European commissioner for Employment, Anna Diamantopoulou and OECD Secretary General Thorvald Moe. The Conference is being organised around four topics: 1) assessing job strategies; 2) making work pay; 3) searching for active and preventive measures for groups on the margins of the labour market; 4) drawing policy implications.
