Brussels, 06/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - the "EU Information Handbook 2000" has just been published by "The EU Committee of the American Chamber in Belgium". The thirteenth edition of this very useful and detailed guide is the fruit of an especially intense work, since its publication coincides, as Committee President Keith Chapple underlined in the introduction, with a period of "Unprecedented change within all European institutions" especially marked by the election of a new European Parliament and a installation of a new European Commission.
The EU Committee, which has already published a "guide to the European Parliament 1999-2004 (see European Library of 20 October) gives very precise information on the European institutions and the different EU agencies (with the names and the phone numbers of the main civil servants). In the second part, it outlines the "larger Europe" and provides useful details on the relations with third countries (a separate chapter is dedicated to relations with the United States) and with existing world organisations (such as the UN, NATO , OECD).
