25/08/26 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission opened a public consultation on Thursday 20 August on its simplification proposal (‘Omnibus’) on the labelling of energy-related products and tyres, presented on 24 June (see EUROPE 13895/4). Views may be submitted until 15 October. The measures presented by the Commission are intended to clarify the labelling rules for certain products, such as dishwashers or air conditioners, so as to allow consumers to obtain information on the products they buy, even where these are sold to them by intermediaries (such as installers). With this proposal, the institution hopes to enable companies and market surveillance authorities to make savings of €125 million a year. Ahead of the proposal, the Commission had launched a call for evidence from 12 February to 12 March 2026 in order to assess the impact of this measure. It received 58 comments.
