The European Union and Mongolia held their 24th Cooperation Committee in Brussels on Monday 29 June. At the meeting, the two parties confirmed Mongolia’s forthcoming accession to the European Agreement concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Engaged in International Road Transport, for which the Member States gave the green light on 8 June. The next regulatory steps will be finalised in October.
The partners also plan to conclude an agreement on geographical indications for products by the end of the year.
The EU welcomed Mongolia’s continued efforts to improve its investment climate and its decision to host COP17 on desertification next month. To support this momentum, it will step up its investments in the country through the Global Gateway strategy, targeting forestry and renewable energy in particular.
At international level, Mongolia was praised for its peaceful role amid tensions in South-East Asia. The delegations reiterated their concern over the war in Ukraine, calling for an immediate ceasefire.
The next meeting of the Cooperation Committee will be held in 2027 in Ulaanbaatar.
