12/06/26 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 12 June, the European Commission presented a delegated regulation amending the rules applicable to the multiannual recovery programme for swordfish in the Mediterranean. The text transposes into EU law the recommendation adopted in November 2025 by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) on the experimental use of trap lines. The proposal authorises the combined use of hooks and loops, limited to 2,500 units per vessel targeting swordfish, with the possibility of a second set on board for trips lasting more than two days, subject to strict storage conditions.
