On Thursday 14 May, the GLOBSEC think-tank announced the launch of a new defence initiative, a platform bringing together industry, political decision-makers, military leaders and financial players “to align defence priorities with industrial and financial realities, and to translate them into concrete delivery”.
According to GLOBSEC, the initiative will focus on translating political ambitions into industrial measures, accelerating the adoption of new technologies and strengthening the link between defence priorities and their implementation.
The priorities are to: - rapidly increase Europe’s defence industrial capabilities; - make Europe a driving force for innovation in next-generation defence; - address market fragmentation and other structural challenges; - raise capital by creating synergies between defence, finance and risk management; - secure and restructure defence supply chains.
The initiative, set up with the support of Saab, is chaired by Admiral Rob Bauer, former Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
