The ambassadors of the Member States meeting within the Political and Security Committee have decided to extend the mandate of Lithuanian Kęstutis Lančinskas as head of the EU’s capacity-building mission in Somalia, EUCAP Somalia, for the period from 1 May 2026 to 28 February 2027, according to a legal act published on Thursday 30 April (see EUROPE 13743/10). The mandate of Kęstutis Lančinskas, who has headed the mission since May 2024, had already been extended last December for the 1 January 2026-30 April 2026 period (see EUROPE 13767/25). The mandate of the EUCAP Somalia mission also runs until 28 February 2027 (see EUROPE 13546/15). (CG)
