European Commission confirms planned end to biofuels linked to deforestation by 2030

On Friday 10 April, the European Commission presented a delegated act aimed at progressively reducing the contribution of biofuels, bioliquids and fuels from crops at high risk of deforestation, as part of its climate objectives.

This delegated act will enter into force if the European Parliament or the Council of the European Union do not object.

This text introduces a binding trajectory for eliminating the share of these fuels in European renewable energy targets by 2030. From 2024,...
