Italy criticised by European Commission for failings in monitoring plant diseases

On Thursday 9 April, the European Commission published a critical report regarding Italy’s preparedness for health emergencies in the plant health sector, highlighting shortcomings in pest surveillance and the absence of contingency plans for the majority of priority pests.
