27/08/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 26 August, the European Union, the Migration Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) inaugurated the first Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Uzbekistan as part of the EU-funded project “PROTECT: Improving Migration Management and Migrant Protection in selected Silk Routes and Central Asian Countries”, according to a press release. The aim of the MRC is to widen access to services for potential migrants throughout the region in terms of safe and legal migration, and to raise awareness of the risks of irregular migration and the threats of human trafficking. This is the third MRC to be set up in Central Asia, following those in Dushanbe, Tajikistan (November 2023) and Osh, Kyrgyzstan (March 2024). (SP)
