European Commission is organising two strategic dialogues with view to drawing up ports strategy and industrial maritime strategy

Apóstolos Tzitzikóstas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, organised two high-level strategic dialogues in Brussels on Tuesday 1 July with a view to drawing up a port strategy and an industrial maritime strategy for the EU (see EUROPE 13583/10).

These meetings brought together representatives from the port, shipbuilding, shipping, inland waterway and related industries to jointly define priorities, opportunities and actions to contribute to the development of EU port and industrial maritime strategies. Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, also took part.

The future comprehensive EU Ports Strategy will aim to support the long-term competitiveness of ports by focusing on security, energy transition and sustainability. As for the future Industrial Maritime Strategy, it will aim to strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of the shipbuilding, maritime manufacturing and maritime transport sector, while promoting its green and digital transition.
