12/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – The tariff pause announced in March by US President Donald Trump could probably be extended for certain countries, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday 11 June. For the EU, this would be good news at a time when negotiations have stalled. “It will be up to President Trump to decide, but I believe that if someone negotiates in good faith, an extension will be possible”, he said. For its part, the European Commission says it is continuing “to work actively to find an agreement as quickly as possible”, according to a spokesperson for the institution. Behind the scenes, several European officials confirmed that they expect a postponement beyond 9 July. According to our information, the European Commission and the US administration are currently working on a ‘roadmap’ for the rest of the negotiations. At the same time, Donald Trump indicated on Thursday 12 June that he could raise tariffs on vehicles again in the near future. (LM)
