20/05/25 (Agence Europe) – As part of the EU Cancer Mission, the first National Mission Hub was inaugurated on Tuesday 20 May in Warsaw, Poland. This mission, which is part of the Horizon Europe research programme, aims to improve the lives of more than three million people by 2030 through the prevention, treatment and care of people affected by cancer, as well as their families. “The burden of cancer is spread unequally in Europe. In Poland, for example, cancer mortality rates are higher than the EU average”, pointed out Joanna Drake, Deputy Director-General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission. In mid-May, the Commission announced that more than €663 million would be invested in the five missions of the Horizon Europe programme (see EUROPE 13641/19). (AD)
