20/05/25 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 20 May, the members of the European Parliament Development Committee approved by 12 votes to 3 with 9 abstentions the draft report by Charles Goerens (Renew Europe, Luxembourgish) on the financing needs for external aid with a view to the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, to be held from 30 June to 3 July 2025 in Seville (see EUROPE 13583/19). The draft report will be put to the vote at the European Parliament plenary session on 16 June. “We have done our utmost to arrive at a position shared by as many colleagues as possible”, declared Mr Goerens on Tuesday, who intends to put the Union “in a position of strength” in Seville, particularly in view of the withdrawal of US foreign aid.
