18/02/25 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 18 February, the Council of the European Union extended its framework of restrictive measures against Zimbabwe (see EUROPE 13537/14) for a further year, until 20 February 2026. However, the Council has removed the last relevant entity from the list, namely the arms company Zimbabwe Defence Industries. The embargo on arms and equipment that are likely to be used for internal repression remains in force. “The EU continues to closely follow developments in Zimbabwe, with a particular attention to the human rights situation and recalls its readiness to adapt the whole range of its policies accordingly”, said an EU Council press release on Tuesday.
