18/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – In an assessment report published on Monday 17 February, the French authorities concluded that the regulated tariffs for the sale of electricity (TRVE) would be maintained for the next few years for the categories of consumers who are already eligible. According to the authorities, these tariffs “make a significant contribution to objectives of general economic interest, in particular price stability, security of supply and social and territorial cohesion, while complying with the European framework relating to these tariffs”. The report notes that their removal would have negative consequences, such as the disappearance of a benchmark for the retail market “that could play a role in developing consumer flexibility”. The European Commission is due to submit its assessment of regulated tariffs by the end of the year. Link to the report by the French Ministry of the Economy (in French): https://aeur.eu/f/fjs (PLD)
