European Commission unveils EU-funded technical support for African Road Safety Observatory

18/02/25 (Agence Europe) – At the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety on Tuesday 18 February in Marrakech (Morocco), the European Commission unveiled EU-funded technical support for the African Road Safety Observatory, hosted by the African Union Commission. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen the observatory’s capacity to address the unique road safety challenges facing African nations. The European Commission is also finalising a grant to support civil society organisations in Africa. This funding will strengthen the capacity of these organisations to implement effective road safety projects and campaigns, enabling local communities to play an active role in promoting safer road conditions. The funding will be channelled through the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety. (AD)
