30/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – During the fourth quarter of 2024, seasonally-adjusted GDP remained stable in the euro area and increased by 0.1% in the European Union, compared with the previous quarter, according to the preliminary flash estimate published by the EU’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Thursday 30 January. According to an initial estimate of the annual growth rate for 2024, based on quarterly data adjusted for seasonal variations and calendar effects, GDP increased by 0.7% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU. Of the fourteen Member States for which data are available, Portugal (+1.5%) recorded the biggest rise, ahead of Lithuania (+0.9%) and Spain (+0.8%). Declines were recorded in Ireland (-1.3%), Germany (-0.2%) and France (-0.1%). Growth was flat in Italy. (MB)
