On Thursday 30 January, the Council of the European Union decided to renew the ‘EU terrorist list’ of persons, groups and entities subject to restrictive measures to combat terrorism, removing one deceased person from the list.
The 14 individuals and 22 groups and entities on the list are subject to freezing of funds and other financial assets or economic resources in EU Member States. EU operators are also prohibited from making funds and economic resources available to them.
The Council also decided to extend the duration of the humanitarian exceptions, introduced in February 2024 for an initial period of one year, until 22 February 2027, in order to ensure the continued timely delivery of humanitarian aid and other activities that support basic human needs, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2664 (2022).
