12/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 11 November, the European Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations department (DG ECHO) announced, on the social network X, the arrival in Cuba of the first aircraft in a humanitarian airlift deployed by the European Union. The aim of this support is to provide emergency material aid to the island, which was severely affected by the passage of Hurricane ‘Oscar’ in late October. The equipment sent includes blankets, solar lamps, tents and mats. It comes from the EU’s humanitarian reserves in Panama, the United Nations and the Technical Cooperation Office of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. (BD)
