24/10/24 (Agence Europe) – In a statement published on Wednesday 23 October, Independent Retail Europe said it “supports” the European Commission’s investigation into Temu’s compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) and called for “strict application [of European rules] to ensure fair competition”. Like a number of associations and interest representatives in recent weeks, Independent Retail Europe denounces the “competitive advantage” of Temu “over EU retailers” due to the sale of “illegal, counterfeit or dangerous products from outside Europe”. The association is strongly in favour of “stricter” application of the DSA in order to “make global e-commerce platforms accountable for their actions, which is essential”, particularly with regard to consumer protection.
