Romania authorised to pay €400 million to compensate farmers hit by drought

24/10/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 24 October, the European Commission authorised, under EU State aid rules, Romanian aid worth €400 million to compensate farmers for the damage suffered as a result of the severe drought between September 2023 and August 2024. The scheme is open to farmers growing 39 selected crops (wheat, triticale, rye, barley, oats, oilseed rape, peas, sunflower and maize) directly affected by the severe drought.
